Trusting Him

Well, school is officially over, and now summer break is here. Although I am enjoying spending more time than usual with my family and friends, I'm beginning to freak about the UNKNOWN. If you said UNKNOWN slowly in a dark deep manly voice than you understand how frightening it is. 

Corbin and I are getting married in October, which is just a hop and a big leap away, 136 days to be exact, but who's counting? With a lot of praying and waiting on the Lord, we have decided to stay in the Norman-OKC area. Our original plan was for me to move to Tulsa, but the more we planned the less peace we had with it. It's a huge decision, but it's a decision that we both feel like is God's plan for us. So, now here is where the big scary UNKNOWN comes in. I have applied for every job under-the-sun in this area, and I still haven't heard from anyone. It is incredibly disheartening to think I've worked so hard for this opportunity, and I can't even get my foot in the door. Corbin is no longer working at QT, but was blessed with a job with his Uncle. Although it is hard work in the sun, Corbin knows that it is just temporary. He is starting to look for a job in Norman-OKC area. Prayer warriors commence.  On top of not having a jobs lined up for the fall yet, my lease is up in 2 months. I've got 2 months to find a place to live. But this is not only a home for me, but this will be OUR first home. It's kind of big deal. Corbin and I joke about being homeless, we've decided that the I-35 & Lindsey bridge would be a great summer home. But all joking aside, we've been given an opportunity by God to work on trusting Him. Our prayers as almost-newly-weds is that our marriage be founded on Christ. The verse in Luke that talks about the foundation of the house being built on the rock is what we think about often. It says, “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.  But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand.The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” We want to be that solid house.Well our relationship foundation must be built on Christ's rock in order to last forever. We can't do it without him people. 
So as hard as it is as a type-A person, I've got to completely surrender my present and future life to His will. I know He will provide for us, because it says it many times in scripture and He has before. When I look back through my prayer journals I am reminded of the many times in which God's plan always worked out better than I had even thought possible. God is good all the time. All the time God is good. 
So if you are at a fork in the road or possibly several forks in the road, remember God's got it all worked out for you. He is taking care of even the little things.

Why Wordle?

You may be wondering why I chose "Love Wordles" as the title of my new blog. Well, to be quite honest I wanted to include the word 'word' in my title because I am a word junkie. I love everything about words. The way they look, the history behind him, the way they sound, and how they help express how you feel. And being a future teacher, I immediately thought of Wordle. It's a website that creates word clouds from text that you input.

For example, I've been doing a lot of research on wedding vows since Corbin and I will be writing our own, and I have the Book of Common Prayer as a go to guide to my vows. So I created a wordle with the prayer! Isn't it lovely? The neat thing about Wordle is that it makes the words most often used bigger. The two biggest words in my wordle are 'love' and 'God' which is exactly what I want the foundation of our marriage to be. I'm having a lot of fun writing and re-writing my promises to Corbin. When you write your own vows, you can make them more meaningful and add a few extra promises like, "I promise to snuggle with you even when you're sick" or "I promise to find new and exciting ways to show my love for you." I can't wait to marry my best friend. :)

More to come on the wedding vows later. But for the purpose of this first post I just want to share my ideas for the blog. I want to continue to practice my creative writing, and to have a way for friends and family to stay updated on the not-so-secret life of me. My plans for the blog are to write about the moments worth writing about. The ones that make me laugh, and even the not so fun ones that make me cry. I want to share my wedding planning experience, student teaching, job hunting, and any other crazy adventures that come my way. Here's to words my friends!
